And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a crèche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away .
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat. Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.
But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says . Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it.. no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.
My Best Regards . Honestly and respectfully, Ben Stein Amen!BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-41970920411874774482007-09-19T23:04:00.000-07:002007-09-19T23:05:29.330-07:00The Urine TestA friend emailed this to me and it is nearly perfect! Enjoy!
Like a lot of folks in this country...I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urinetest, with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butt and using drugs.
Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Please pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along though. BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-70173787264763995842007-09-11T17:52:00.000-07:002008-12-10T15:33:17.602-08:00Back from vacation....

Every once in a while a Disasterologist has to take a break from all the disastering. I took some time off over the holiday. My family went to the country and just disapeared for about ten days, my brother and his family came to "The Propery" to visit and blow off some steam as well. It was great! As soon as I have my internet back (functioning) I will post some pictures here (I am posting from work). WildBill and I came home with Poison Ivy, and I also got a sunburn on the first day. We got the tractor and brush-hog hooked up and mowed a go-cart track, the kids went fishing, and we shot up some expired canned food. Last night here in the Oklahoma City metro area we had the remnant of tropical storm Erin (downgraded from a hurricane) come through town after making a long trek through western Texas via the Gulf of Mexico.

I am usually up late, keeping all of you safe in the event of a disaster, and around 1:30 am the NWS declared a Tornado Watch for the western metro/El Reno/ Yukon area. Needless to say, I was up for a long night as it was about 6am before the storm had calmed and the chance of Tornado was completely past. I know what you are saying, "why stay up all night long?" that is what i do to keep us all safe. At around 3:30am the storm met with the Low front and created this "eye of the hurricane" effect just east of Kingfisher and Greenfield complete with no rain in the eye; it was strange.

Now that we have the preface out of the way we can get to the real story. Many years ago a had written an article (can't find anywhere) about Natural Selection no longer affected the human race because of the invention of warning stickers, thus causing an over abundance of stupid people that would normally meet their own end due to the lack of neuron usage.

But last night my faith in Natural Selection was rekindled when at 5:45am, broadcasting live from NW 36th and Broadway in OKC channel 5 (I think) showed two cars stuck in a flooded street, TWO MORE CARS plunged in behind the first ones! One of the second batch quickly realized that that was not a smart move and threw it in reverse and backed out before it was too late, the other car had to drive AROUND THE NEWS VAN AND REPORTER who were filming LIVE (hence the bright camera lite and big suv BLOCKING THE ROAD) plunged straight into the water and began to float away.

The reporter continued to film live and asked if the woman needed help (which is the first time I have ever seen them get involved versus "ruining the shoot") and stayed with her LIVE until the fire dept. showed up to rescue the water logged car.

Now some of you reading this are questioning what they know of me at this point. I can tell you that my belief in Natural Selection (both animal and human) does not contradict my religious beliefs. God made cavemen (Neanderthals and whatnots) to keep Anthropologists confused for many thousand years, proving that God has a sense of humor. I used to be a staunch Evolutionist and grappled with the concept of Creationism until I understood comparative anatomy does not prove evolution but proves an "artistic signature style." You're confused.

Right now do a Google search for Leonardo da Vinci art work, primarily looking for his paintings and sculptures of human form (if you don't want to use da Vinci look up another artist, I don't care). Over the long span of time you can see (if you are looking chronologically) that their art improves and they get better, but what you will recognize is each individual artist's STYLE. da Vinci makes his men look like this; Van Gogh draws women like that, and lets not even get started on Picaso. The point I am trying to make is that you can recognize their artistic signature style.

Take the time now to compare animal skeletal likenesses including gorillas vs. chimpanzees vs. human. You can see that they are all designed by the same maker. He has a style; He has worked out the design. That is not called evolution it is design perfection.
BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-41095306835164286302007-08-15T21:08:00.000-07:002008-12-10T15:33:18.758-08:00Oil company exects see thier own shadow, gas prices rise

Upon scanning the news for Disasterology related events, no look of surprise on my face as I read that BigOil fears the impending arrival of Erin to the Texas coast and threaten the raise in price of gas. This is good news as we asked all of our avid readers to write to their congress-persons to help rectify this slippage. The search of Disasterologist bumped our stuff up to number two, still respectable, but we have got to work hard people to get it up where NADS needs to be. If we all keep working it our NADS will be bigger than ever. Second, life is not fair, get over it.

I have been DENIED a job because I was told that I am NOT a woman or a minority; tell me how that is far. I worked for a Female Director who is an "African-American," I was seeking full time employment even though I was working 40hours a week and was not offered a full time job (in case you are not aware, that is illegal as well).

I was one of 3 "white" males among twenty-two employees, all the other employees matched her description of being either a 'woman' or a 'minority' or both. If you look at it I WAS THE MINORITY, but obviously my opinion does not count. The EEOC (that's EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION) said they couldn't help me, but they sympathized with my plight. The EEOC only deals with 'minorities' who have been discriminated against, and minority by definition is anyone other than me.

I took my beef up the chain of command to the next rung which was the Director of HR. SHE told me that "they" (the hospital) was standing behind my directors decision and SHE did not see anything wrong with what was said to me. Just mention "good old boys club" and I will personally kick you in the beans, or whatever you may have.

My wife applied for a college/vo-tec program in health care. The Bylaws of this school states that they will ALWAYS take persons in-district over those out of district; they broke the law. Every applicant accepted to the program is from out of district, surprise they make more money. On top of that, the way they disqualified my wife was they asked her if she thought her weight would hinder her from performing the job. That's discrimination. Does anyone care, no. LIFE IS NOT FAIR.

I don't want to hear about how we are unfairly targeting illegals; they are NOT HERE LEGALLY and that MAKES THEM CRIMINALS. I don't have ANYTHING against Mexicans or Latinos coming to America, fill out the paperwork and come legally just don't punish me because your country is corrupt.BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-19161190730987004622007-08-09T19:17:00.000-07:002007-08-22T20:11:57.789-07:00Another potential disaster narrowly avoidedIt's a nice, bright, mid-summer day and you are zipping along to make your delivery. The sun shine on your face feels good like a mother's hug, Tom Petty is singing on the radio. The street light at the intersection is turning red but there is a car already running it, it won't hurt if you run it too. A van with the green light takes off expecting you to stop, but you don't. Your car rolls completely over landing on all four tires as it comes to a complete halt. A hospital worker pulls over to check on you, and you won't let him go, "It's OK, I won't leave you" he tells you to comfort you as you go into shock, your world gets smaller by the second. The cops are scared as you tell the officer that there are nuclear isotopes in your trunk. This is not a terroristic situation. You are carrying the pharmaceuticals for patients needing a nuclear medicine study, that's your job, but the officer still wants haz-mat to come out to the scene. This is not a fictional tale, this is real. How could you know that today you held El Presidente's hand as he tried to comfort you in your time of need. You are welcome, just next time, please stop for the red light.

His royal highness, El Presidente

If you read this and it sounds familiar to you, leave a comment or drop me a line ViveElPresidente (at) gmail (dot) comElPresidentehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05893720137198107391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-25837456355949627742007-08-08T15:43:00.000-07:002008-12-10T15:33:19.102-08:00Calling All Disasterologists...

Apparently there are some people out there miss using Disasterology. For those who don't know what a Disasterologist is, it is "one who specializes in the study of disasters" and trust me I know a disaster when I see one. Congress is busy trying to suck a$$ to blue collar America by suggesting a raise in the minimum wage, like that is going to help anyone. If you make minimum wage and want more money, don't think that raising minimum wage will help you at all, try getting AN EDUCATION YOU CAN USE!!! A Ph.D. in Underwater basketweaving is not going to help you feed your family, a Master's Degree in Music will only pay if you live in Nashville or Seattle, or you want a job conducting a church choir. THINK PEOPLE. If you have to pay people more to make a Big Mac, then LOGICALLY, it will cost MORE for the Big Mac. Gas is already too high, ExxonMobile posted record high PROFITS, and I promise that if minimum wage goes up they are not going to LOSE ANY PROFITS, GAS WILL HAVE TO GO HIGHER!!! You have to think big picture, people.

So do you think anyone in Congress has your best interest in mind when they talk about raising the minimum wage?

As your president I will never raise taxes, hell, I don't even collect taxes from you!!!

Love always, El Presidente

Take time now to compile a list of things you commonly buy and/or use. I hope you enjoy it. (The parts in red are the parts left out of the speech the night of the Graduation)

A fire started in the grasslands close to a farm. The county fire department rushed to the scene, but the fire was more than they could handle. Someone suggested calling the volunteer fire department. Despite some doubt that they would be of any assistance, they were called. The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. They rumbled straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped! The firefighters jumped from the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the center of the fire and leaving two parts which were easily put out. As the farmer watched all this, he was impressed and grateful that his house and farm had been spared. He quickly got his check book and donated $1000 to the volunteer fire department. A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain how they planned to use the funds. The captain replied, "The first thing we're gonna do is get the brakes on our fire truck fixed!"

Good evening. I am honored by the invitation to speak to you tonight. I have had the priveledge of teaching some of you when you rotated through Mercy and I'm proud to see and hear of how far you have come in just two short years. I want to speak to you tonight about mentoring. You will soon be in the position to help others who are now, or in the future will be, in the RADIOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY program. Hopefully all of you have benefited while in thIS program from the help of experienced technologistS guiding you through your learning process. As new technologist you will now have the opportunity to guide and mentor others while they progress through their learning process. The definition of a mentor is to: serve as a trusted counselor or teacher, especially in occupational settings. “Mentoring is a relational experience in which one person empowers another by sharing God-given resources.” Connecting; The Mentoring Relationships You Need To Succeed In Life by Paul D. Stanley and J. Robert Clinton. The basis of mentoring has to be a sound relationship between the mentor and the student or mentoree. Like any other relationship it must be based on trust.

Having students to mentor does not come naturally to everyone. When you begin to mentor you must first assess the needs and learning habits of the student you are trying to help. You must recognize at what point they are in the program, and what needs they have that must be addressed. Mentoring students is not just an intellectual venture, it is emotional as well. One of the most basic needs that many students have is a lack of confidence. Not that the student has no confidence themselves but that the technologists at the clinical sites have a lack of patience and little confidence in the students abilities. This deficiency in the technologist is projected onto the student and thereby stunts the student’s growth. This equates to moving a plant into a dark closet and being angry with the plant for not growing. As new technologists I urge you to have patience with your future students; you must allow them to make mistakes. I tell students at the beginning of the semester, upon first meeting them, “I will make you make mistakes; small mistakes that you will learn from, and I will not let you hurt any patients.”

Very early one morning in October of 1991, a first year x-ray student, on his first clinical rotation would learn a lesson that would impact other students for decades to come. This lesson had nothing to do with medicine or x-ray, but was a harsh life lesson in people relations. A technologist who had a severe dislike for students, was the epitome of everything I would strive to not become. It is the point that I was treated so harshly that made me promise myself that I would never treat another person, especially one who is trying to learn from my experience, like she treated me. I have learned to have the patience of Job and the mentoring love that Paul had for Timothy for all of my students and to respect them as fellow human beings.

Surely each of you in this auditorium can remember a superior treating you rudely. It was once said that the moral test of someone is how one treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped. Hubert H. Humphrey. Well, now it is your turn. New technologists have the uncanny knack of forgetting in just a few short months how it felt to be a student. I work with technologists every day that have forgotten that just a short time ago they were the student complaining about being treated like an inferior. You can do something about it. Much like myself, each of you can make the decision to put forth the effort to reach out to a student, and enrich their learning experience.

One of my favorite Bible verses says, Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other, Proverbs 27:17. Mentoring does not end when a student graduates the program. My co-workers and I mentor each other. We share information that is needed and we continue to mentor one another with knowledge we acquire on a daily basis. I haven’t had the opportunity to reach out to each of you graduating tonight. However, I have had the opportunity to reach a few of you. If each of you that I have reached, reaches out to future students, the student mentoring pyramid will continue exponentially. Can you imagine the quality of students, and student mentors that can be created?

All of you here tonight have gone through physics pertaining to radiology. The point of physics is to achieve the greatest effect with the least amount of effort. If you don’t sharpen your ax, it will be harder to use…... Mentoring should be like this as well. If you sharpen your ax before you chop down the tree, the job will require less effort. The best teaching style is often self-learning. To allow self learning shows the true patience of a mentor. If you allow students to make mistakes and learn from their mistakes, even though it may be painful for you to watch, you have reached the greatest potential for the student because they are not likely to forget their mistakes.I challenge you, find a student, come along side them and nurture them. Walk shoulder to shoulder with them and watch them experience the new ideas and concepts that you discovered just a few short years before.

You do not have to know all the answers. Students need someone to have patience with them; to help them to learn from their mistakes and your experience. If you Take care of a tree, you will eat its fruit. Do it with a smile, and know that I am proud of you for the effort, and the student you have helped is appreciative of your time and patience. Some people call this ‘pay if forward’ I call it mentoring and together we are training better technologists for tomorrow.

Thank you for the opportunity to speak with you, and congratulations.

Michael H Kerr R.T. I am a registered Radiographic Technologist (x-ray tech) and I am writting to you to ask for your support of the CARE bill (S. 1042). It is essential that Americans receive radiographic diagnostic procedures from licenced and credentialed Technologists. This is not about registered Techs making more money, it is about patients not being over exposed to harmful amounts of ionizing radiation do to ignorance and lack of proper education. You would not support a bill that allowed persons to practice Medicine without a licence, that would do far more harm than good. The Democrats have focused their baby-death machine on farming infants to keep Hollywood celebrities alive when a viable, non-cannibal alternative is available and has been available ALL ALONG. Stem cells can be harvested from CORD BLOOD, that is blood from the umbilical cord collected after the baby is BORN, and can be experimented on without all the controversy of murdering unborn children since the point is to harvest after the LIVE BABY IS BORN, but I think that would go against the Democrats policy of 'kill as many children as possible.'

Read these articles:

Parts Of Liver Created Using Umbilical Cord Stem Cells

Health Roundup: Ethical stem cells grow liver

BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-1161488931592242102006-10-21T20:46:00.000-07:002006-10-21T20:48:51.606-07:00We all up in the IHOP 10-21-06

ElPresidentehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05893720137198107391noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31433996.post-1160463051353226542006-10-09T23:50:00.000-07:002006-10-09T23:50:51.366-07:00North Diarrhea Korea Nukey
And Now a Message From Kim Jon Il

Oh Helro!!!

You pafetic foors. This one falls into that "Damn! I wish I'd written that! Right On! You go Girl!" Category. Pass it along, please! You have to wonder about the attention span of the folks at AP, LA Times, Washington Post, New York Times, ABC NBC CBS &CNN - Could it possibly be that they can't remember the events of September 11, 2001, and the 3,000 Totally Innocent and Uninvolved United States Citizens who were summarily slaughtered by a gang of religious thugs.Or is the "problem" simply that the press and media in this country don't "get it" and don't want to "get it"? Words like TREASON, SEDITION and TRAITOR must be missing from their dictionaries.Anyway, enjoy the piece below - The Lady has it absolutely correct! The lady who wrote this letter is Pam Foster of Pamela Foster and Associates in Atlanta. She's been in business since 1980 doing Interior design and home planning. She recently wrote the following Letter to a family member serving in Iraq ....... Check it out!

WHAT'S ALL OF THE FUSS?"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it notStarted by Islamic people who brought it to our shores onSeptember 11, 2001?Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally Murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from Our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly three Thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing Death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated"? When an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't! I don't care at all.I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents For incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start Caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime In Saudi Arabia.I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry forHacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through hisGurgling, slashed throat.I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out And fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by Hiding in mosques.I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up inSearch of nirvana care about the innocent children within rangeOf their suicide bombs.I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law Instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave MarineRoughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this:I don't care. When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners whoHave been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, Rest assured that I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he isTold not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you canTake it to the bank that I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and aPrayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my taxDollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," YOU Can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care. And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled"Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and---- You got it, I DON'T CARE!BigMikehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17585066250211128145noreply@blogger.com0
